Fintechs raised as much money during the first three quarters of 2021 than in 2018, 2019 and 2020 combined
During the first three quarters of 2021, eCAP PARTNER has identified 64 fundraising operations totaling 1.2 bn€ (an average of more than 19 M€ per round). For the entire years 2018, 2019 and 2020, these figures were, respectively, of 272 M€ and 44 operations, 469 M€ and 57 operations, and 532 M€ and 47 deals.
“This confirms the strong attractiveness of Fintechs, in the broadest sense of the term, with the average amount of funds raised rising from 6.2 M€ in 2018 to 19.1 M€ in 2021”, notes Numa Bourragué, eCAP PARTNER’s founder & managing partner.
During the last period, Insurtechs have taken over digital personal and/or SME’s digital banking, with more than a third of the amounts raised by Fintechs in 2021.
“It reflects successive disrupting waves: retail banking, in the middle of the last decade, then SME banking, and now Insurance”, points Philippe Bailly, D-Rating’s President.
